BGA LEADERSHIP

STUFF & AWARDS

The One and Only, Very Best BGA Leadership Team in the World, BGA Commissioner Emeritus Jim Remler and BGA Commissioner W. A. Pace. All BGA Members are grateful for their Dedication and Leadership! (And sometimes they dress alike.)

JOHN KELLER IS WELCOMED BACK BY SOL ASEKUN, IN OCTOBER 2022, AFTER BEING AWAY FROM GOLF SINCE JANUARY.  JOHN HAD A BIRDIE ON HIS FIRST HOLE AND KNOCKED A SQUIRREL SILLY ON #6.  WELCOME BACK JOHN!!

BGA Members, it came to our attention, on Friday August 27, 2021, that someone had vandalized a BGA golf cart in the parking lot. With a little investigation we determined that the cart belonged to our own Ken Gerling. If our interpretation is correct, ruby red lipstick was used on the windshield to say, "I wuv you". And then a beautiful red heart was added. Does Ken have a secret admirer? Does Marilyn know about this? We have to protect our Members!

Commissioner W. A. Pace.

Bob Feldberg was able to find this magazine cover on the internet indicating the photo must have been sent to VOGUE magazine.

Thanks for sharing Bob.

I'm forwarding an e-mail that has a photo of an unknown member of the BGA wearing some snazzy new clothing.  Does anyone recognize this person that is so fashionably dressed?  This photo, I believe, has been sent to both GQ and Golf Magazine for them to use in their publication on how to properly dress for the golf Course

Peter and Claire Lindley had a dream!

Local couple visits every MLB stadium

Journey ends at Texas ballpark

  • Jul 1, 2021

Pete and Claire Lindley at the Texas Rangers’ new stadium, Globe Life Park, in Arlington, Texa

How often does an interesting thought enter your mind and you think about it, but do nothing? Even short-term ideas are mostly left untended. But Pete and Claire Lindley had a dream they could not forgo: visiting every single ballpark in Major League Baseball.

Both are avid baseball fans and had season tickets to the Philadelphia Phillies during their many years in Pennsylvania. Early on, when they were still working, business-related travel took them to several venues: Guaranteed Rate Field (Chicago White Sox) and Wrigley Field (Cubs) as they traveled jointly.

When they retired and moved to Citrus Hills 10 years ago, they continued to think about their dream. How farfetched was it? Could they do it?

As they visited family members throughout the U.S. in the next four or five years, they visited San Diego, Detroit, Houston, Phoenix, Minnesota and Boston. They saw the local baseball team/stadium and purchased a shot glass as a souvenir at each stadium to take home. On one trip, they traveled to visit friends in Ohio and enjoyed games in Cleveland and Cincinnati. They never had a rainout, but did have one game delayed an hour in St Louis.

At this juncture, they only had one more stadium to visit. The COVID-19 pandemic delayed their pursuit of their final stadium at Globe Life Field in Arlington Texas. Finally, on June 22, 2021, they made the trek to see the Rangers play and fulfilled their dream. They had finally visited every major league baseball stadium in MLB. They installed a glass display case to handle their growing collection of shot glasses from each of the stadiums they visited.

At each stadium, they sampled authentic "local" food as another interesting way of remembering the locale and its culture. This included things like perogies in Pittsburgh, Dungeness crab in San Francisco, and the "Rattler" sausage in Texas.

They saw day games, night games, giveaway days, specially honored players (Ricky Henderson, Elvis Andrus) and kids’ days. Their best-rated ballparks were San Francisco (scenery and locale), Pittsburgh (sight lines) and Colorado (sheer beauty). The most memorable occasion was at a day game in Milwaukee where everyone participated in elaborate tailgating hours before game time and welcomed them warmly as strangers. Their travels included planes, cars, trains, light rail, Uber, taxi, subway, and the "T."

Their most exciting events were going to the World Series in Philadelphia, an All-Star Game in old Candlestick Park, and Cal Ripken Jr. breaking Lou Gehrig’s consecutive games played record at Baltimore’s Camden Yards.

Their interesting thought conjured up emotions that stood the test of time and recently became a reality. They are already planning to continue this journey as new stadiums appear on the horizon.

Looks like the dynamic duo coordinated their wardrobe.

Jim Remler forwarded a picture showing Mike Stefani proudly accepting a BGA beer mug from Hose in Grand Cayman.  This was to recognize the only "notable" score in our St. Patrick's day tournament several days ago. Mike was really proud to get this really nice prize that Hose selected for us. Commissioner W. A. Pace.

BGA St. Patrick's Day 2021

The winning team from our St. Patrick's day tourney on Monday, March 21 2021.

They were really proud of the very expensive beer mug with the official BGA logo on the mug.  Hose really did a good job of supplying prizes for this tournament.

Congrats to Buzz Fredrickson, John Keller, and Len Ciriello.

Commissioner W. A. Pace.

"The ST. Patrick's day dress up.  Our man Don Morrison. First Place!

What is not shown here is that Don also had a "pot of gold" taped to the front of his cart that day.

Looks like Don spent some time in the dollar store shopping for St. Patricks stuff.

Even with all that, someone, not sure who, said that Don should be disqualified because his shoes did not match his outfit.
Don had on a mundane black pair of shoes....

Most likely a jealous competitor complained. " By: Commissioner W.A. Pace.

"Members, take a look at the second and third place winners from the St. Patrick's day tourney on Friday, March 12 2021.

Thanks to Peter Bockiaro and Ed Ryan.

And congratulations to both...."

Commissioner W.A. Pace.

"Another photo from Jim Remler of those who dressed up for St. Patrick's day.

As Jim mentioned in his e-mail, check out Paul Foss' outfit.  A big club fit for a giant....A hat with a decoration on top.  I think it was a flag pole, but not sure.

Looking at the picture, Steve Keen is the one with a beard.  Dave Beck is on the other side of the big guy looking so
happy.  We need to get a picture of Dave looking happy. " Commissioner W.A. Pace.

Leprechauns?" Commissioner Emeritus Jim Remler.

"THE DOUGHNUT DOLLIES SPREAD SOME LOVING KINDNESS FOR THE BGA PLAYERS.  OUR THANKS TO THE DOLLIES FOR MAKING OUR DAY!

There is a strange looking Dollie in the photo of the Dollies.  Who could this masked person be????

We need to recognize the work that Claire and her Dollies devoted to making this a success and to Peter and Claire for hosting the event in their backyard."

BGA Commissioner W. A. Pace.

Next, he did not have a picture of his sweetheart on his hat or shirt. Then, the Commissioner said he was guilty of a third rule. However he escaped with only a $3.00 fine. The 2021 BGA Ryder Cup Classic - A Historic Tie.

Pictured below are, Dave Hetherington-(left), Captain of the Geritol Guys and Peter Lindley-(right), Captain of The Wildcats team. Center is Dave Barber, Captain of the 2020 BGA Ryder Cup winning team.

The event was played on January 22-23, 2021.

The result of the two-day event was a tie at 9-9. This had never happened in the 24-year history of the Citrus Hills BGA. Since neither Dave Hetherington, captain of the Geritol Guys, nor Peter Lindley, captain of the Wildcats won, it was declared that neither could claim rights to the trophy for the year 2021. Therefore, Dave Barber, last year’s winning captain currently has possession of the BGA Ryder Cup. (A rumor has floated that Dave and Peter might be asked to play a tie breaker.)
