TURKEY DAY AWARD WINNER MAGIC FORMULA

Members, we had our BGA Turkey Day Classic on Friday November 15, 2024.  An eventful day.

We had 26 members competing in the tournament as well as competition for the BGA Turkey Award.  We had a few members that joined us for lunch that did not participate in the golf tournament (Paul Piotte, Ren Marquette, Jim Pachmayer, Curt Mesler.  My Son Jeff also joined us for lunch 

Starting off we observed a member that had not read the emails and failed to dress with the BGA shirt/hat as required.  John Erdmann cheerfully paid the customary $3 fine and said that no one had called him to wear the shirt/hat.  All others in attendance had the proper dress.

On the golf tournament we had 2  teams that were threesomes and 5 teams with 4 members.  The game was one best ball on the front, 2 best balls on the back with closest to the pins on #5 and #14.  The team scores ranged from minus 9 to minus 25.  Three teams won money.  the winning team with a minus 25 was led by David Hetherington accompanied by Sam Stecker, Paul Rundio and W. A. Pace.

Closest to the pin on #5 was Ed Ryan and #14 was David Massey.  We did not have any notable scores.  

We did not pay out any cash on Friday as we did not have the right amount of change.  The prize money will be paid out next week.

Sol then summarized the scores for the BGA Turkey award.  The 4 finalist were Jim Brown, Larry Jones, Sam Stecker and W. A. Pace.  The criteria was the famous Turkey day formula that contained as a key element individual low net.  One by one the finalists were eliminated until he got to the eventual winner W. A. Pace that had a really good round.  It appeared that was a surprise to the group based on the commentary from the group.

At the meeting we also admitted Duncan Bridewill to the group with the customary gifts to Duncan. 

Thanks to all that played, had lunch with us, and participated in the post tournament activities. Thanks to those that volunteered and thanks to David Beck for "volunteering" to take pictures.
